How to change the form success message in Webflow?

Flowversity··2 min read

When a visitor submits a form on your Webflow site, a success message appears to confirm the submission went through. By default, this message reads "Thank you! Your submission has been received!" — but you can customize it to match your brand voice and provide more specific guidance to the user.

Customizing the form success message

Open your project in the Webflow Designer and navigate to the page containing your form. Click on the Form element to select it. Inside the form block, you will see a element labeled Form Done (success message). This element is hidden by default and only becomes visible after a successful form submission.

Double-click the Form Done element to edit its text content. Replace the default message with whatever you want visitors to see — for example, "Thanks for reaching out! We'll get back to you within 24 hours."

You are not limited to plain text. The success message block supports rich content, so you can add:

  • Headings and subheadings
  • Links (e.g., back to the homepage)
  • Images or icons
  • Multiple paragraphs

Styling the success message

Select the Form Done element and use the Style panel to change its appearance. You can adjust typography, colors, padding, background, and any other visual properties. Since the element is hidden by default in the Designer, click the eye icon in the Navigator or Style panel to toggle its visibility while you style it.

Important: When the success message is visible, the main form fields are hidden. This is Webflow's default behavior — the form and the success message swap visibility on submission. Do not delete the form fields thinking they disappeared.

Making the success message stand out

Consider using a distinct background color, a checkmark icon, or a larger font size to clearly communicate success. Visitors should immediately understand that their submission was processed. Adding a next step — like "Expect a reply within one business day" — reduces uncertainty and improves the user experience.
